You remind me of the babe! {friday faves}

It's Friday at last, woo hoo!

I'll be off to the shops soon to purchase supplies for tonight's Fajito Party with my three favourite girls, Kate, Chell & Rachel!
Fajito = fajita + mojito - yum!

Kate and I are mad about Bowie, so to get you in the Friday spirit, here's one of our favourites, from the Labyrinth soundtrack, which i think you'll agree is a fab Friday song!!

Recap
I'm very pleased with myself for sticking to my 'New Weeks Resolution' to blog every day! In case you've missed any of my other blog posts this week, here's a recap ...

Golden Apple ♥'s The Bijou Bride {Supplier Focus} - chatting to the lovely Alexandra from The Bijou Bride
"If you're a bird, i'm a bird" - why I love The Notebook and my tattoo design
Tuesday morning treats - images from my vintage photoshoot
Stationery Love ♥ - Gorgeous wedding planning notebook from Noble Macmillan
Send me on my way... {monday musings} - Fab Monday morning music, and what i've been getting up to this week

Things
This pink cake is the best thing i've seen this week - it's so cute!

The recipe and lots more lovely images can be found on Call me Cupcake which I found via Anna and the Ring, who made one for her husbands birthday, which also looked absolutely gorgeous!

People
Ali Lovegrove is at the top of my favourite people list this week, as we've started to plan a very exciting super awesome top secret project! Each email from her has made me emit a high-pitched girly squeal of excitement - eeek!

Other stuff
Everyone should read the amazing book that I have just finished- One Day by David Nicholls - it follows to people and what they're doing on the same day each day for 20 years - couldn't put it down!

And finally...
I'll leave you with this gorgeous image, that I love love love!
I found it on Tumblr, (click here to check out the golden apple tumblr page) but have used tineye.com to do a reverse image source and think it's from phototgrapher Pauline Darley - isn't it lovely!

Have a lovely weekend!!

Golden Apple ♥'s The Bijou Bride {Supplier Focus}

BIJOU
a definition: "something small, delicate and exquisitely wrought"
an adjective: "desirable, pleasing, elegant, fashionable, stylish, chic, sought-after, to die for"

I love The Bijou Bride - the website is super cool with it's gorgeous imagery and design, and I especially love the little "post box" and "telephone box" icons. The blog is full of unique ideas and lots of lovely inspiration.

I spoke to the Bijou Bride herself, Alexandra, to find out more...

Who are you?
Alexandra from The Bijou Bride

What do you do?
Wedding event/fashion Stylist and wedding fashion blogger

Is this your full time job or do you have a day job - if so what is it?
I do have another job too working as a Music PR consultant and stylist, today I was hanging out with Olly Murs and next week it's the Kings of Leon! I like to be busy and I think it's good to keep some perspective of the world outside of weddings. My aim with the blog and my wedding clients is to bring that contemporary edge and understanding of what's influential now.

What do you love most about what you do?
The clients. Creating those little touches and moments that make people say 'it was an awesome wedding.'

What inspires you?
I have a wild imagination which I'm sure came from reading Alice in Wonderland and Enid Blyton books when I was young. I adore hidden details in things and think they really set a wedding apart, it's something I strive to include in all my client plans.

What is the most memorable event that you’ve worked on?
Although it hasn't happened yet The Vintage Wedding Affair (Saturday 2nd July - for your diary). It is a HUGE undertaking for me, not only have I been organising the fair but I'm also styling the day and the fashion shows all within 8 weeks. I have an aversion to trestle tables and had a dream of creating something different, something Bijou. So the Vintage Wedding Affair is taking place in an active independent Emporium with all furniture and props available to buy. I think it will be a more relevant and dare I say it, trendy Wedding Fair.

And finally… anything else you’re itching to tell me?
That I think you rock!

Thanks Alexandra! :)

I think you will agree that Alexandra is a very cool lady, and that The Bijou Bride is a fabulous resource for brides to be who want to create a chic, fashionable and stylish wedding.

The Vintage Wedding Affair sounds fabulous, and a great opportunity for brides to meet lots of gorgeous and creative suppliers. It's sure to be an amazing day for all involved - if only I was London based!

If you're a bird, i'm a bird...

I am a little bit in love with The Notebook - it's such a beautiful film.
I watched it for about the 20th time on Saturday and as always I was in floods of tears by the end of it!

I wouldn't say it was my favourite film of all time, but it's up there in my top 10 - I can watch it again and again, despite knowing that I'm going to end up a sniffing, sobbing mess! Just the beginning titles are enough to make me fill up!

I just love the story, the characters, Allie's stunning 1940's outfits, the gorgeous scenery and the thought of such beautiful, amazing love.

I found this tattoo, (below) and am considering designing something similar for myself!
I like the vintage font and the birds on the design I created for the quote at the top of the post, but not sure how they would work as a tattoo - what do you think?

70th birthday invitations

I recently created some pretty pink, cream and green vintage inspired invitations for a 70th birthday party. I decided on pretty lace design with an art deco flower detail finished with tiny pale pink diamantes.

I posted the invitations yesterday and received this lovely feedback on my facebook page today...

I have just received the most amazing invitations for my Mum's 70th birthday party - beautifully wrapped and tied with a white satin ribbon. It felt like my birthday just undoing the package! Thanks so much, Leah - they're perfect! :) xx

How lovely - thank you Debbie, and I hope that your mum has a fabulous birthday party!
